Every bag is handwoven from Ata grass, also called "ketak"; it is a native vine in Indonesia which is strong and durable.
Local artisans use a special technique to individually weave Ata grass vines into beautifully structured items. They are smoked over coconut husks for 24 to 48 hours to achieve the distinct caramel coloration and as part of the drying process, which leaves the bag with a slight natural scent that disappears over time
The beading ornamentation is produced by hand, by skilled artisans in Mumbai using the finest European and Indian materials.
All weavers and beading artists are fairly compensated which allows them to keep on following their passions while providing for their families.
